Charlene M. Kephart, 70, of Penfield died Saturday, May 20, 2017 at the UPMC Presbyterian Hospital.

She was born May 11, 1947 in Clearfield, a daughter of the late Carl D. Sr. and Nora D. (Hand) McCoy.

She was a housewife and had also been employed by Shortway Products for nine years.  She was an avid Steelers fan and a former member of the Penfield Grange.

She is survived by her husband, Daniel L. Kephart; two children, Wendy Newdick of Pittsburgh and Jeremy Kephart and his wife, Wendy of Penfield; three grandchildren, Dylan and Vanessa Kephart and Minerva Newdick; two  sisters, Sue McCoy of Clearfield and Patsy Livelsberger of McSherrystown; and a brother, Carl ‘Mike’ D. McCoy and his wife, Helen of Glen Richey.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Jesse Kephart and Daniel L. Kephart II.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield, with the Rev. Dave Miller.  Burial will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery, Clearfield.

Friends will be received from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Hillcrest Cemetery, 908 Richard St., Clearfield.

James “Jim” Robert Smith, 80, of DuBois died Sunday, May 21, 2017 at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Born in Falls Creek on Sept. 20, 1936, he was the son of the late Fredrick and Mildred (Jones) Smith. 

On Sept. 21, 1957, he married Mary Jane Ball.  She survives.

He was a graduate of the DuBois Area High School in the class of 1954. He retired from Penn Traffic as a truck driver for 31 years and 13 years at the B & O Railroad.

He was a member at Treasure Lake Church for many years.  He drove late model dirt cars.  He coached a little league team, the Tasty Freeze, for many years. 

He enjoyed going to NASCAR racing and watching the Pirates, Steelers and the Penguins games.  His greatest joy in life was camping and being with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by four sons, James R. Smith Jr. and his wife, Roni of Treasure Lake; Brian Smith of and Scott Smith and his companion, Shari, all of DuBois; and Todd Smith and his wife, Jaci of Falls Creek. 

He is survived by 12 grandchildren, Christi Borrero and her husband, Jeremy of Erie; Justin Smith of Hawaii; Eric Smith of Treasure Lake; Tiffany Harriger and her husband, Jeff, Breann Smith, Jesse Smith, Scott Smith and his wife, Amber and Tim and Kim Smith, all of DuBois; David Smith and his wife, Tara of Brockway; and Joshua and Joel Smith of Falls Creek.

He is survived by 12 great-grandchildren, Brayden, McKenzie, Dominick, Aiden, Jaiden, Kaylee, Kendal, Taylor, Liam, Everlee, Chloe and Kamdyn.   

He is also survived by a brother, Keith Smith of DuBois and two sisters, Janet Guthridge and her husband, Don of DuBois and Molly Wraye of Falls Creek.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald Smith and Sandy Smith and one sister, Karen Smith.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Treasure Lake Church with Pastor Dick Whitaker officiating.

Glenna M. Wilson, 100, formerly of DuBois, died Saturday, May 20, 2017 at the Kingston Nursing Center in Conway, SC.

Born July 30, 1916 in Vandergrift, Pa., she was the daughter of the late William H. and Lillian I. (Evans) Rakestraw.

In September of 1946, she married Fred W. Wilson.  He preceded her in death Feb. 13, 1988.

She was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church.

She is survived by a son, Frederick “Rick” Wilson and his wife, Andrea of Franklin; a daughter, Sherry Seremet and her husband, John of Conway, SC; three grandchildren, Shelley Carson and her husband, Kevin and Monica Cross and her husband, Joseph, both of Des Moines, Iowa, and Heath Seremet and his wife, Olya of Conway, SC; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Jess Rakestraw and four sisters, Helen Shobert, Ruth Korb, Irene Shugarts and Margaret Gould.

Friends will be received from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. May 31 at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium Inc.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. June 1 at the funeral home with Pastor Paul Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Morningside Cemetery.

Obituary Notice: Glenn E. Shope Sr.

Glenn E. Shope Sr., 87, of Irvona died Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at his residence.

Born Jan. 26, 1930 in Beaver Valley, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Bertha (Gates) Shope.

On Jan. 29, 1955, he married Bertha Lender in New York City.  She preceded him in death in 2010.

He is a U.S. Army veteran who served during the Korean War.

He was a member of the Richard L. Beers VFW Post 7043 and the F&AM Lodge 574, both in Coalport.  He was also a member of the Irvona UMC.

He will be deeply missed by his two children, Glenn E. Shope Jr. and his wife, Cindy of Fayetteville, Pa., and Brenda M. Kasubick and her husband, Dennis of Houtzdale; a grandson, Capt. Brandon F. Morroni and his wife, Laura of Fayetteville, NC; and a sister, Louise Kightlinger of Franklin, Pa.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by seven siblings, Marlin Shope, Cloyd Shope, Irvin Shope, Cecil Shope, Zenal Shope, Helen Black and Paul Shope.

The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Kruise-Spewock Funeral & Cremation Services Inc., Ramey.

The Rev. Tina Hawkins will officiate the service.  Burial with military honors will follow in Utahville Cemetery.  Masonic Services will be held at 8 p.m. Friday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Jaffa Shrine, 2200 Broad Ave., Altoona, PA 16601.

Margaret B. Zinn, 102, of Ramey died Tuesday, May 23, 2017 in Christ the King Manor, Dubois.

Born April 17, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Martin J. and Anna T. (Grace) Baylin.

She worked in Washington D.C., in the Department of Interior. She also did office work in Harrisburg, Atlanta, Pittsburgh and at Penn State. She enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles.

She is the last of her family.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Zinn; three infant brothers; a brother, Edward Baylin; and five sisters, Anna Shimmel, Mildred Kandrach, Mary Ann Baylin and two infants.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Ramey. The Rev. Zab Amar will be celebrant. Burial will follow in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Ramey.

Ida Jean Peacock, 93, of Clearfield died Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at her home.

She was born Nov. 9, 1923 in Lumber City, a daughter of the late Victor G. and Helen W. (Maurey) Gearhart McFadden.

Mrs. Peacock attended the Clearfield Alliance Church. She was also a member of the Curwensville VFW Post 842 Auxiliary. 

She worked for 13 years at McGregor’s Sportswear. She loved to cook, bake, can vegetables and crochet. Most of all, she loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.

Mrs. Peacock is survived by two children, Larry W. Peacock and his wife, Lynne of Olanta and Helen J. Lingle and her husband, Marvin of Clearfield.

She is survived by six grandchildren, Chris (Jennifer) Peacock, Matthew (Janette) Peacock, Randy (Kearstin) Peacock, Kimberly (John) Castina, Marvin (Betsy) Lingle Jr., and Chad (Stephanie) Lingle; 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Gerald Gearhart of Mahaffey and Neal (Cora) Gearhart of Laurel, Md.; a sister-in-law, Jessie Gearhart of Curwensville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Tarlton A. “Sonny” Peacock, to whom she was married Nov. 21, 1945, and who died March 19, 2010; three brothers, Donald, Robert and Glenn Gearhart; a sister, Dorothy Foster; and two grandchildren, Douglas Wayne Peacock and Mark Alan Lingle.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Bennett & Houser Funeral Home Inc. of Clearfield with Dr. Duane White officiating. Burial will be at Crown Crest Memorial Park.

Friends will be received from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Thursday and from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

John Charles Rumsky, 91, of Clearfield and formerly of Glen Richey, fell asleep with the Lord after an extended illness at Ridgeview Health Care and Rehabilitation Center on May 21, 2017.

Born Dec. 22, 1925 in Glen Richey, he was the son of Frank W. and Helen (Kusak) Rumsky. 

Mr. Rumsky had done road construction with various companies; also, he had been the street commissioner for Curwensville Borough for many years.  He was a U.S. Naval veteran of World War II.

He was a lifetime member of the Curwensville American Legion Post No. 505, the Curwensville VFW Post No. 842 and the Curwensville L.O.O.M. Family Center No. 268.

He enjoyed Pittsburgh Pirate baseball and Penn State football.  He was a 1943 graduate of the Clearfield High School.

Surviving are a sister, Pearl Rumsky of Glen Richey and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Mary Kephart, Delphine Rumsky, Ann E. Rumsky and Kathryn Kuzniar; an infant sister; brothers, Joseph and Francis Rumsky; and his long-time companion, Agnes White.

There will be no public visitation.

A public funeral service for Mr. Rumsky will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the St. Mary’s Annunciation Ukrainian Catholic Church in Ramey, with Father Anthony Balistreri officiating.  Burial will be in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.

Military honors will be accorded at the Cemetery by members of the Clearfield Honor Guard.

Patricia Louise Swanson, 76, of Philipsburg died Monday, May 22, 2017, at Penn Highlands DuBois.

Born April 1, 1940, she was a daughter of the late William Elias and Alberta Elizabeth (Fleckenstein) Craven.

Mrs. Swanson was a 1958 graduate of the former Philipsburg High School. She also attended the former Philipsburg State General Hospital School of Nursing.

She was a member of the Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Philipsburg.

She had been first employed as a nurse’s aide at Kaiser Hospital in California and also with the California Department of Motor Vehicles, Westminster, Calif.

Mrs. Swanson was later employed and retired as a pharmacy technician with Rite Aid Pharmacy, Timonium, Md.

She especially enjoyed crocheting and crafting many other items for her family, friends and church.

She was married Jan. 21, 1961 in Philipsburg to Leroy D. Swanson. He survives at home.

Mrs. Swanson is survived by one daughter, Barbara Ann Wychryst and her husband, Brian of East Berlin; one son, Mark Daniel Swanson and his wife, Michaelle of Beaumont, Calif.; and four grandchildren, Mark D. Swanson Jr., Kristopher Swanson, Allison Marie and Sabastian Wychryst.

She is also survived by one sister, Louise Ann Conklin and her husband, Marvin “Dusty” of Drifting; two brothers, Jerome “Jerry” Craven and his wife, Veronica of RD Philipsburg and William Craven and his wife, Darlene “Dolly” of Elizabethtown; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Christina Wychryst.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at the Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Philipsburg, with the Rev. John Gibbons as celebrant.

Burial will be in the Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery, RD Philipsburg.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Thomas M. Geyer, 70, of DuBois died Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at Penn Highlands DuBois. He was born Nov. 21, 1946 in Lock Haven.

He worked in the oil field with several companies since he was 17 years old.  He was known as a “tool pusher.”

He was a member of the Wesleyan Soldier Church. He was also a member of the Garfield Lodge No. 559 Free and Accepted Masons.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Stahl Geyer, to whom he was married in May of 1979, and Donald R. Beam and Thomas E. Beam, all of DuBois. 

He is also survived by a sister, Pam McKee and her husband, David of DuBois; a brother, Jeff Striegel and his wife, Glenda of Falls Creek; four grandchildren and their spouses; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by Terri L. Taylor.

Friends will be received from 3 p.m. – 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Baronick Funeral Home and Crematorium Inc.

A service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Pastor Kevin Brooks officiating.

Charles E. McBride, 84, of Clearfield died Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at Penn Highlands Clearfield.

Mr. McBride was born Sept. 22, 1932 in Olanta, the son of Charles J. and Mary (Kanouff) McBride.

He had worked for McGregor’s, Stokers and Lady Jane Mines in Penfield and Novey Recycling.

He was an avid hunter, especially hunting coons with his dogs. He was also an avid trapper and fisherman.

Mr. McBride is survived by his wife, Charlotte (Turner) McBride, to whom he was married Nov. 22, 1952, and two sons, Leo McBride and his wife, Barb of Hyde and Rodney McBride of Shawville.

He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Michael McBride (Charissa), Mandy Johnston (Ryan), Josh McBride (Kristin), Lynn McBride (Ashley), Adam McBride (Michele), Kristin McBride and Steven O’Connor; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Norman “Butch” McBride and his wife, Mary of Kerr Addition.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Michael McBride.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Bennett & Houser Funeral Home Inc. of Clearfield with the Rev. John White officiating. Burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery.

Friends will be received from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

The Rev. Nelson Foster Collar, 82, of Philipsburg died Thursday, May 18, 2017 at his residence.

Born May 19, 1934, in Brady Township, Lycoming County, he was a son of the late Lewis Collar and Margaret “Maggy” Leola Elizabeth Haines.

In addition to his vocation and service to the Lord as an ordained minister, he had been employed as a church school bus driver in Florida and as a cook for the Arena Restaurant, formerly located within the Harbor Inn, Philipsburg.

He is survived by two daughters, Barbara Henderson of Orlando, Fla., and Wanda Martin of Clearfield; five sons, Nelson R. Collar and his wife, Carol of Hawthorne, Fla., Raymond Collar and his wife, Juanita and Timothy Collar, both of Orlando, Fla., Sam Collar of Windber and Chester Collar of Ocean Springs, Miss., and one brother, Peter “Pete” R. Collar and his wife, June of Parsons, W.Va.

He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Michael and Mark Collar; six sisters; and five brothers.

A memorial service was held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at the Senior Center, located within the Philipsburg Towers, 300 N. Front St., Philipsburg.

William Paul Liddle,   93, of Clearfield died Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at his residence.

He was born March 5, 1924, a son of the late William Henry and Mabel (Murray) Liddle.

He served with the U.S. Army during World War II with the Ninth Platoon during the Invasion of Normandy.  He was a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star recipient. 

When he returned home, he worked in construction for five years.  For the next 33 years, he was employed at Harbison Walker Refractories.  Following its closure, he worked as a security guard with IPS for seven years.

He was a member of the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church.  He served as a union job steward and a volunteer for seven years at Joseph & Elizabeth Shaw Public Library.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen (Taylor) Liddle, to whom he was wed April 14, 1950 in Clearfield, and two daughters, Jody Liddle Grumblatt and her husband, Douglas of Clearfield and Paula Liddle Beem and her husband, John of Florida.

He is also survived by six grandchildren, Gabrielle Kelly Thompson, Erin Kelly, Jocelyn Kelly, Jessie Mann, Justin Pfaff and Luke Beem; 10 great-grandchildren, Ian, Mason, Gavin, Fallon, Sarah, Connor, Isabel, Elliott, Grant and Maddie; two sisters, Mary Neeper of Clearfield and Betty Neeper and her husband, Lester of Curwensville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Cleo M. Liddle Kelly; a son, Jonathan Paul Liddle; and two infant sons, William Henry Liddle and David Liddle.  He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Ethel Luzier, Violet Taylor and Pearl Peoples.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Clearfield Christian & Missionary Alliance Church with Dr. Duane A. White officiating.  Burial will follow in the Goshen Cemetery, Clearfield.

Friends will be received from 2:30 p.m. – 8 p.m. Monday at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield.  Additional visitation will be held from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

Jay Warren Buhler, 71, of Grampian peacefully went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at his residence.

Born Jan. 27, 1946, in Altoona, he was a son of Edward Daniel and Bertha Rae (Treese) Buhler. 

On April 13, 1968 in Erie, he wed the former Sandra L. Goll, who survives along with three children, Lisa Gedris and her husband, David of Pittsburgh, Matt Buhler and his wife, Jessica of DuBois and Ben Buhler and his partner, Danielle Dimichelo of Raleigh, NC.   

Also surviving are three grandchildren, MacKenzie, Gavin and Lily, as well as his brother- and sister-in-law, Paul and Elizabeth Goll, and a sister-in-law, Betty Buhler.

In addition to his family, he is survived by his other “kids,” the many former students who will always remember him as “Mr. Buhler.”  He was a beloved music teacher with the Curwensville Area School District for more than 27 years before retiring in 1999. 

Mr. Buhler was an influence and an inspiration to those who studied with him, were encouraged by him and who knew him as equally prepared to lovingly give hugs or kicks in the pants, as circumstances indicated.

He received both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania. As well as teaching music to students and adults for more than 40 years, he was an accomplished musician who frequently shared both his vocal and instrumental talents. 

He found particular joy in leading the Grampian Band for more than 15 years, and by fostering in others an appreciation for his favorite song, “MacArthur Park.”  To scores of musicians, he was fondly known as “the Leader of the Band.”

He was a member of Noble Lodge No. 480 F. & A.M., for which he twice proudly served as Master, and of the Curwensville Presbyterian Church, where he carried out duties as a deacon and sang in the choir. 

A U.S. Naval veteran serving in several field bands, he was affiliated with local, state and national education associations and held memberships with MENC, the National Association for Music Education and the Theta Xi Fraternity.  Locally, he conducted the (Clearfield) Choral Society and was involved with the Clearfield Arts Studio Theatre.

In 2015, he was honored with the title of Grampian Citizen of the Year, and he was named a Progressland’s Person of the Week in 2016.

During his leisure time, he enjoyed woodworking, golf, 3D archery tournaments, model trains, fishing, hunting, skiing and grilling in his back yard. 

He was a lover of the Harry Potter books, and he had a great fondness for Labrador retrievers.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Edward Ray Buhler.

At Mr. Buhler’s request, there will be no public visitation.

A public “Celebration of Life” Service is planned for May 28 at Irvin Park on Susquehanna Avenue in Curwensville with the Rev. Gary B. Jewart officiating.

A Masonic Memorial Services will be conducted by members of the Noble Lodge No. 480 F.&A.M., Curwensville, starting at 1:30 p.m. with military honors and the Celebration of Life Service starting immediately after.  All of Mr. Buhler’s family, friends and acquaintances are invited to attend and bring a lawn chair

In case of inclement weather, the services will be moved to the auditorium of the Curwensville Area High School.

Sylvia R. Livergood, 93, formerly of Philipsburg, died Thursday, May 25, 2017 at Arista Care Hearthside, State College.

Born June 5, 1923 in Brisbane, Australia, she was a daughter of the late George Edward Reid and Daisy Griffiths.

She met her husband, Paul F. Livergood, while he was serving during World War II. They married March 27, 1945 in Brisbane, Australia.

Following the war, she and her husband returned to the United States and on Nov. 22, 1950, she received her American citizenship.

She had worked at Sylvania and the General Cigar Factory from which she retired. She was a member of the Cosmopolitan Club where she met her fellow war bride friends.

She was also a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Philipsburg, where she often helped with the blood mobiles and funeral luncheons.

She was a good cook. She enjoyed knitting, traveling (especially to the ocean) and taking care of her grandsons. She loved to read and always read every National Geographic from cover to cover. She always referred to Australia as home. 

She is survived by her daughter, Maureen F. Coble and her husband, Randy of Kylertown and three grandsons, Bradley Coble and his wife, Bianca of Pittsburgh, Sean Coble and his wife, Krysta of Washington, D.C., and Paul Coble of Washington, D.C. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband on March 31, 1980, and her son, Barry.  

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Trinity United Methodist Church, Philipsburg, with Pastor Michelle R. Bodle officiating. Burial will be in the Philipsburg Cemetery.

Friends will be received from 10 a.m. Tuesday until the time of the service at the church.

Linda L. Spencer, 76, of Houtzdale died Thursday, May 25, 2017 at her home.

Born Dec. 28, 1940 in Glen Hope, she was the daughter of Dorothy (Mann) Light of Philipsburg and the late Malvin W. Kerr Sr. 

She married Charles E. Spencer Sr., on Aug. 21, 1956 in Glen Hope. He preceded her in death June 29, 1994.

She was of the Christian faith and a retired caregiver.

In addition to her father and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Terry and Donald Spencer; one granddaughter, Autom Dawn Spencer; two sisters, Delores and Sarah Spencer; two brothers, Melvin W. Kerr Jr. and Robert Kerr; and a long-time companion, Patrick Lefevre.

Along with her mother, she is survived by one daughter, Karen Gearhart of Houtzdale; one son, Charles E. Spencer Jr. of Coalport; one brother, Richard Kerr and his wife, Jane of Houtzdale; nine grandchildren, Todd Spencer, with whom she raised, and his wife, Patty, Christina, Charles, Terry, Lance, Melissa, Jessie and Dylan Spencer and Sara Stiver; and 13 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Heath Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Osceola Mills with the Rev. Timothy Richmond officiating.  Burial will be at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Allemansville.

Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Monday and from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Margaret G. Temchack, 96, passed from this earth Saturday, May 27, 2017. Born April 30, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Andrew T. and Catherine (Gresek) Popyack.

A graduate from BCI High School in the class of 1939, she married John Temchack on June 1, 1940. He preceded her in death March 26, 1997.

Together, they raised four daughters: Mrs. Jay (Patricia) Rinebolt of Saxonburg; Josephine Heisler of Edison, NJ; Mrs. Edward (Marion) Dlugosh of Larksville; and Mrs. Robert (Theresa) Dombrosky of Smithmill. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

From a family of 10, she is survived by one sister, Catherine Hart of Newcomerstown, Ohio, two brothers, Edward (Dorothy Ann) of New Stanton and Francis (Henrietta) of Murraysville, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Martin, Joseph, Andrew and Leonard and three sisters, Mary Varnovich, Ann Welch and Irene Solensky.

She was a member of the Holy Trinity Church, Ramey, and the former Holy Trinity Rosary Society.

She was a former PTA president at the Janesville Elementary School. She was also a former president and lifetime member of the Stephen Kandrach Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6321 Ladies Auxiliary. 

She was an avid traveler. She enjoyed playing bingo and loved following Pittsburgh sports and Penn State football.

Friends will be received from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. Wednesday and from 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Kruise-Spewock Funeral & Cremation Services Inc., Ramey.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Ramey, with the Rev. Zab Amar officiating. Burial will follow at St. Vladimir’s Ukrainian Orthodox Cemetery, Beulah.

Geraldine Krishart Mitravich, 93, formerly of DuBois, died Sunday, May 28, 2017 at Christ the King Manor surrounded by her loving family.

Born Sept. 10, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Michael S. and Kathryn A. (Pruzinski) Krishart.

She was married to John J. “Junk” Mitravich.  He preceded her in death July 17, 1986. 

She was retired from Brockway Glass. Prior to that, she had worked at B.F. Goodrich in DuBois for more than 30 years.

She was a member of the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church. She enjoyed bowling and going polka dancing.

She is survived by her daughter, Geraldine S. “Gerri” Cox and her husband, James of Crawfordville, Fla.; a brother, Michael L. Krishart and his wife, Rita of DuBois; two sisters, Irene Acuff of Charleston, SC and Viola Fischer of West Palm Beach, Fla.; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her brother, S. Jerome Krishart and two sisters, Madolene Ferut and Violet Windham.

Friends will be received from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium Inc.

A scriptural wake service will be prayed at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church with Msgr. Richard Siefer as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Michael Cemetery.

Gerald M. “Jerry” Lanager, 76, of Clearfield died Friday, May 26, 2017 at his home.

Mr. Lanager was born Dec. 23, 1940 as the son of Arthur and Hazel (Ogden) Lanager.

He retired from the U.S. Navy in 1977. He had also worked as a government contractor with Delex Inc.

Mr. Lanager was Methodist by faith. He was a member of the Clearfield American Legion John Lewis Shade Post No. 6.

He loved taking care of his family and other people. He also loved driving his corvette low and fast, mowing the grass and traveling.

He is survived by his wife, Paula E. (Sawyer) Lanager, to whom he was married July 6, 1961; two daughters, Rhonda S. Torres and her husband, Albert of Texas and Shelly Bell and her husband, Dave of Virginia; four grandchildren, Jessica Kiracofe, Brian Bell and his wife, Olivia, Kevin and Megan Bell; three great-grandchildren, C.J., Kian and Taylor Bell; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mr. Lanager was the last member of his generation. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Gerald Lanager Jr.; and two brothers, Larry and Alan Lanager.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Bennett & Houser Funeral Home Inc., of Clearfield with the Rev. John White officiating.

Burial will be in Crown Crest Memorial Park.  Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the Clearfield Honor Guard.

Friends will be received from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Cleora Ferguson, 86, of Morrisdale died Friday, May 26, 2017 at Windy Hill Village in Philipsburg surrounded by her loving family.

She was born Nov. 10, 1930, the daughter of the late Maxwell E. Smith and Henrietta Mae Smith Guyer.

She married Robert Ferguson on July 14, 1956 at the First Church of Christ, Philipsburg. He preceded her in death Dec. 26, 2013.

Mrs. Ferguson is survived by four children, Susan Langenbacher of Altoona, Carol (Greg) Rowles of Clearfield, Julie (Dave) Commons of Hastings and Darin Ferguson of Morrisdale.

Mrs. Ferguson is also survived by five grandchildren, Kristie (Eric) King of St. Benedict, Kim (Dan) Callahan of Warriors Mark, Josh (Shasta) Langenbacher of Altoona, David Matthew (Megan) Commons of Hastings and Zach (Veronica) Langenbacher of Pittsburgh and four great-grandchildren, Lacey and Logan King and Madeline and Natalie Commons, with a fifth great-grandchild, baby Callahan, due in July.

Also preceding Mrs. Ferguson in death were three brothers, Stanley, Leon and C. Wayne Smith; a step-father, J. Albert Guyer; a son-in-law, James Langenbacher; and a sister-in-law, Melita Smith Lloyd.

She had a love of the Lord, crocheting, quilting, reading, her family and her pets.

Mrs. Ferguson worked in the toy department at Grants Department Store and Ames Department Store in Philipsburg.

She was a member of First Church of Christ in Philipsburg and a past worthy matron of the Order of Eastern Star, Altoona District. She graduated from Philipsburg High School.

Friends will be received from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday at Strange & Weaver Funeral Service in Morrisdale.

Friends will also be received from 10 a.m. Wednesday until the 11 a.m. funeral service at First Church of Christ in Philipsburg with the Rev. Ryan Parrish officiating.

Eugene Mills, 86, of Clearfield died Monday, May 29, 2017 at his home in Graystone Court Villa, Clearfield.

He was born June 25, 1930 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, a son of the late Fred and Georgine (Sloan) Mills.

Mr. Mills was employed as a heavy equipment operator for Operating Engineers Local Union No. 66 for more than 50 years. 

After being an operator, he was employed by the union as a business agent for more than 10 years. 

Mr. Mills enjoyed being active all of his life and spent countless hours swimming or exercising at the YMCA. 

He also enjoyed walking his dog and had a love for reading.  He was affiliated with the Clearfield Alliance Church. 

A U.S. Air Force veteran, Mr. Mills served his country from 1947-1950.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret ‘Peg’ (Bain) Mills, and two sons, Mark Mills and his wife, Diane and Mike Mills, both of Clearfield.

At the request of Mr. Mills, there will be no public services.
