Obituary Notice: Bonnie L. Maines

Bonnie L. Maines, 72, of Clearfield died Sunday, May 28, 2017 at Penn Highlands Clearfield.

She was born March 24, 1945 in LeContes Mills, a daughter of the late Duane and Helen (Krupelak) Rougeux.

She was a member of the St. Francis Church, Clearfield. She loved her dogs.

She is survived by two brothers, Stanley Rougeux and his wife, Kathy of Frenchville and Keith Rougeux of Keewaydin.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert C. Maines, on Jan. 17, 2012 and a sister, Barbara Ann Rougeux.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield, with Fr. Brandon Kleckner officiating.  Burial will be in the Bradford Cemetery, Woodland.

Friends will be received from 1:30 p.m. – 2 p.m. Thursday at the church.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. Francis Catholic Church, 212 S. Front St., Clearfield.

Patricia A. Barger, 71, of Frenchville died Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at her home.

She was born April 26, 1946 in Philipsburg, a daughter of the late Hilary and Stella E. (Moore) Picard.

Mrs. Barger was employed at Benton’s Market in Karthaus and had been a caregiver through CRI.  Prior to that, she had worked at the Cigar Factory, Philipsburg.

She was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Frenchville.

She is survived by her husband, Harold M. Barger; two children, Shannon Williams and her husband, Michael of Lehighton and Shawn A. Barger and his wife, Becky of Bethlehem; three grandchildren, Emily Elizabeth Barger, Mark Anthony-Meade Barger and Garrett Meade Williams; and a brother, William Picard and his wife, Darlene of Morrisdale.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Sandra Picard, Alice Benton and Marjorie Mayhue and three brothers, Robert Picard, Hilary Picard Jr. and Francis Picard.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 11 a.m. Saturday at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Frenchville, with Fr. Philip Billotte as celebrant. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Frenchville.

Friends will be received from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, 275 21st St., Clearfield.

Carol A. Lingle, 57, of Clearfield died May 28, 2017. She was born June 8, 1959.

She graduated from the Clearfield Area High School in 1977.

She was an understanding, supportive and devoted wife and mother. She loved gardening, the outdoors, baking and her pets. She was an avid reader.

On Aug. 22, 1978, she wed Dennis Lingle in Clearfield.

She is survived by her husband and two sons, Brandon Lingle of Tampa Fla., and J. Lingle of Mechanicsburg, Pa.

Also surviving are her sisters-in-law, Carol Brisker of Clearfield and Doris Gardner of Baltimore, Md., and a brother-in-law, Ralph Lingle of Clearfield.

She is also survived by a caring extended family with many nieces, nephews and loving cousins.

She was preceded in death by Ralph and Jane Lingle; her father- and mother-in-law; and brother-in-law, Randy Lingle.

A memorial service will held at 6 p.m. Friday at the Hyde Wesleyan Church in Clearfield. Pastors Bob Croft and Stevan Sheets will officiate.

A reception for family and friends will follow the service at the church.

Florence M. Stefanik, 78, of Treasure Lake, DuBois, died Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at her home.

Born March 2, 1939 in Jersey City, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Florence (Picuri) Johnson.

On Dec. 24, 1992, she married Michael R. Stefanik Jr.  He survives.

She retired as an executive secretary from Mack Trucks Inc.

She is survived by two step-children, Ann Marie Stefanik Leary and her husband, Shawn and Michael R. Stefanik III and his wife, Robin; a brother, Russell Johnson and his wife, Judy and two grandchildren, Patrick Leary and Hannah Leary.

There will be no public visitation. A memorial service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.

Memorials may be sent to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Paul Cantolina, 90, of Morrisdale went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at his residence.

Born May 6, 1927 in Oak Grove (Morrisdale), he was the son of the late John and Mary Villella Cantolina.

On April 22, 1953, he wed Margaret “Peg” Lindstrom Cantolina, who preceded him in death Oct. 25, 1998.

He is survived by his children, Leroy Cantolina and his wife, Patricia and Paula Arnold and her husband, Dennis, all of Morrisdale; his grandchildren, Jeff Cantolina, Cheryl Mertz-Kitko, Christian Arnold and Amanda Arnold-Schaffer; and his great-grandchildren, Joshua Cantolina, Meghan Cantolina, Ashley Mertz, Jenna Mertz, Leilani Schaffer and Lincoln Paul Schaffer.

Also surviving are his sister, Grace Coble of Michigan and brother, John Cantolina of Morrisdale.

Along with his parents and wife preceding him in death were his grandson, Gregory Cantolina; his sisters, Angeline Grogan, Grace Coble, Patricia LeFebvre, Mary Louise Francisko, Lorraine Lamb and Constance George; and brothers, Anthony “Toots” Cantolina,  James Cantolina and Pat Lope.

Mr. Cantolina was a member of the St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, Morrisdale. He was owner of Paul Cantolina Trucking, Morrisdale, which was established in 1952.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and the Army Air Corps during World War II and the Korean War, where he received the American Theatre Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He was a member of the VFW Post 3450 of Philipsburg.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, at the St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, Morrisdale, with Father Robert J. Horgas as celebrant.

Burial will be in the church cemetery where military honors will be accorded at the graveside by the Moshannon Valley Independent Honor Guard.

Family and friends will be received from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Sunday and from 8:45 a.m. – 9:45 a.m. Monday at the Strange & Weaver Funeral Service, Morrisdale.

Verda M. Graffius, 87, of Woodland died Friday, May 26, 2017 at her home.  Born Feb. 28, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Cyrus and Mildred (Maines) Maines. 

She married Leonard L. Graffius on Oct. 21, 1949 in Clearfield. He preceded her in death May 23, 2012.

Mrs. Graffius was of the Christian faith and a homemaker.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Roseann McBride, Dorothy Mabie and Donna Maines; one brother, William Maines; and a granddaughter, April Graffius.

She is survived by two daughters, Margaret Maines and her husband, Stanley and Mildred Graffius, both of Woodland; four sons, Leonard Graffius and his wife, Kim of DuBois, Burton Graffius and his wife, Tammy of West Decatur and James Graffius and his wife, Darlene and William Graffius and his wife, Arlene, both of Woodland; five sisters, Virginia Steele of Virginia, Vera Martel and Bonnie Hile, both of Clearfield, Iona Spade of Irvona and Lillian Hanel of DuBois; and one brother, Cyrus Maines of Clearfield. 

She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Bradford Cemetery in Woodland with Pastor Brenda Libreatori officiating. There will be no viewing or visitation.

Mary A. Hartzfeld, 79, formerly of Ridgway and Hamburg, NY, died Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at Manchester Commons in Erie, Pa.

Born Feb. 4, 1938 in DuBois, she was the daughter of the late William H. and Clara (Wayland) Shaw.

She married Howard E. Hartzfeld on Sept. 29, 1956. He survives.

She was a homemaker and a part-time office worker. She loved spending time with the grandchildren and was an avid reader and card player.

She is survived by three children, Diana L. Fillhart of Bay St. Louis, Miss.; Terry S. Hartzfeld and his wife, Susan of Sun City West, Ariz.; and Brian H. Hartzfeld and his wife, Reyne of Erie, Pa. 

She is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is the last surviving member of her immediate family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Wilma Shaw and Agnes Harmon, three brothers, Walter, Joseph and William Shaw; and a grandson, Dakota W. Hartzfeld.

Friends will be received from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. Monday at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium Inc.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with Pastor John Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Morningside Cemetery.

Terry C. Hickman, 27, of Clearfield died Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at his residence.

Born April 23, 1990 in Manassas, Va., he was a son of the late Terry A. Hickman and Renee A. (Boyer) Johnstonbaugh of Hawk Run.

He was a 2008 graduate of West Branch High School, Allport. He also had attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

He was most recently employed as a rig pad supervisor with ROC Service Co., Canonsburg. He was also serving as a member of the Pennsylvania National Guard, HHC 2 BSTB, Johnstown.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by one daughter, Brilee Renee ReoNason of Canonsburg; two brothers, Frederick A. Hickman and his wife, Haylee of Morrisdale and Jeffrey T. Johnstonbaugh of Hawk Run; four aunts and three uncles, Georgia Demchak and her husband, Carol of RD Philipsburg, Cill Long of Philipsburg, Francis J. Boyer and his wife, Kimberly of Barrington, Ill., and Robert and Charlene Hickman of Houston, Texas. 

He was preceded in death by his father; one great-aunt and great-uncle, Elizabeth “Betty” Shedlock and her husband, Andrew M. Shedlock; his great-uncle, Kenneth Long; and his great-aunt and great-uncle, George and Belle Long.

The funeral service will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home, 719 E. Spruce St., Philipsburg, with the Rev. Ryan D. Parish officiating.

Friends will be received from 1 p.m. Saturday until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Harry Nida, 95, a long-time resident of Houtzdale, died Monday, May 29, 2017 at Solaris Healthcare in Merritt Island, Fla.

Born June 21, 1921 in Smith Mills Pa., he was the son of the late John and Fannie (Kaballa) Nida.

From 1937-1941, he served with the Civilian Conservation Corps in Arizona. 

He was a professional welder with his expertise developed during World War II while building Naval and Merchant ships, and it advanced on oil pipelines.

He continued with 40-plus years in the coal industry.  He was a UMW 60-year member in good standing with District2 Local 1520.

He is survived by three children, John Nida of Merritt Island, Fla., Judy Custard of Tyrone and Neal Nida of Virginia; six grandchildren, John Nida Jr., Nicholas Nida, Greg Nida Jr., Stephen Custard, Bryan Andrew Nida and Lorraine Marie Nida; and six great-grandchildren, Jessica, Lyndsey, Sky, Zachery, Levi and Logan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marie (Murawski) Nida; a son, Gregory Nida; a grandson, Patrick Custard; a brother, Frank Nida; and four sisters, Anna, Kathryn, Marion and Nancy.

The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. Friday, June 9 and from 8:30 a.m. – 9:45 a.m. Saturday, June 10 at the Kruise-Spewock Funeral & Cremation Services Inc., Ramey.  Parastas will be sung at 7 p.m. Friday, June 9.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 10 at the St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, Ramey. The Rev. Anthony Balistreri will officiate the services. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Ukrainian Cemetery, Ramey.

Betty Jane Guiher, 79, of Grampian died Thursday, June 1, 2017, at the home of her sister, Mildred Frantz in Sykesville after a lengthy illness.

Born May 6, 1938 in Westville, she was the daughter of Lloyd Franklin and Mable (Foust) Neiswonger. 

Mrs. Guiher was a homemaker. She, along with her husband, co-owned Guiher’s Greenhouse in Grampian. 

She was a member of the Faith Bible Church in Lumber City. She was also a member of the Penn Grange and had volunteered for Meals on Wheels of CCAAA.

On Dec. 29, 1956, in the Grampian Church of God, she wed Leonard Guiher, who preceded her in death Feb. 17, 2002. 

She was also preceded in death by her parents; a sister, June Hirth; and brothers, Art, Edward, Merle, Eugene, John and Frank Neiswonger.

Surviving are six children, Cheryl Kunik and her husband, John of Hartwell, Ga., Edward Nolder and his wife, Holly of Cleveland, Texas, Leonard Guiher Jr. and his wife, Rachel and Franklin Guiher and his wife, Mary, both of Hepburnia, Diane Mable Zortman and her husband, LeRoy of Clarksville, Tenn.; and Barbara Hamilton and her husband, Warren of Curwensville.

Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, a sister, Mildred Frantz of Sykesville and William Neiswonger and his wife, Wanda of North Tonawanda, NY.

Services for Mrs. Guiher will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Faith Bible Church, 398 Grandview Rd., Curwensville, with the Rev. Scott Schultz officiating.  Burial will be in the Friends Cemetery in Grampian

Dominic R. Shilala, 94, of DuBois died Sunday, June 4, 2017 at Penn Highlands DuBois.  Born Sept. 12, 1922, he was the son of the late Dominic and Elizabeth (Chesnalavich) Shilala.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and he served during World War II.

On May 2, 1953, he married Ann (Felix) Shilala.  She survives.  They had been married for 64 years.

He retired in 1982 after 37 years of service with the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad. 

He also worked at Kohlhepp’s True Value Hardware Store for 16 years, as well as S&T Bank and the DuBois Area School District.

He was a member of the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, where he had sung in the choir.  He was also a member of the former Lithuanian Independence Club.

He is survived by two daughters, Mary Ann Shilala of DuBois and Diane Pepitone and her husband, James of Katonah, NY and a son, Dr. Patrick Shilala and his wife, Jane of DuBois.  He is also survived by a grandson, Michael Pepitone.

He was preceded in death by four sisters, Ann Lommock and Nelle, Julia, and Betty Shilala and four brothers, Joseph, Bernard, Sylvester and Terry Shilala.

There will be no public visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church with Msgr. Richard Siefer as celebrant.

Full military honors will be accorded at the church by the members of the DuBois Area Honor Guard. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Memorials may be placed with the charity of the donor’s choice.

Arlene J. Kulbatsky, 58, of Reynoldsville died Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Allegheny General Hospital after a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis.

Born Feb. 19, 1959 in Jacksonville, Fla., she was the daughter of Elton and Ruth (Dungey) Himes.  They survive and live in Reynoldsville.

On Sept. 19, 1981, she married Mark A. Kulbatsky.  He survives.

She had previously worked at Beechwoods Flying Service.

She was a member of the St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Reynoldsville, where she was a past C.C.D. teacher and active in the Catholic Daughters of America. 

She liked to hunt and fish. She also enjoyed camping and being in the outdoors.

She is survived by three children, Jessica Kulbatsky and Karl Kulbatsky and his wife, Amanda, both of Reynoldsville, and Kristen Kulbatsky of DuBois; a sister, Kim Engle and her husband, Phil of Falls Creek; and a brother, Forrest Himes and his wife, Dasunee of Grand Junction, Colo.  She is also survived by four grandchildren, Mallory, Owen, Jerzy and Neeko.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Wayne Himes.

Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Monday at the Baronick Funeral Home and Crematorium Inc.

A Scriptural Wake Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Baronick Funeral Home and Crematorium Inc. with Fr. Bill Barron officiating.

Gerald C. Sankey, 74, of Osceola Mills died Saturday, June 3, 2017 at his home.

Born Nov. 17, 1942 in Brisbin, he was the son of the late Thomas and June (Schoonover) Sankey. 

He married Melody F. (Hosband) Sankey on Dec. 6, 1969 in Sandy Ridge. She survives at home.

Mr. Sankey was a member of the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Houtzdale.

He was retired from Penelec at the Shawville Station. He was also a 1960 graduate of the Moshannon Valley High School. 

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was also a member of the Osceola Mills Lodge No. 515 F.&A.M.; Loyal Order of the Moose No. 327, Houtzdale; and the American Legion Post No. 591, Houtzdale.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Loree A. Jordan and one brother, Thomas L. Sankey.

Along with his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Diana D. Cartwright and her husband, Andrew of Sandy Ridge, Karen J. Sankey and her husband, Kevin Dressler of State College and Denise E. Harmic and her husband, Steven of Clearfield; one brother, Rick Sankey of Brisbin; and five grandchildren, Baylee, Rachel, Adam, Jack and Audrey.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday at the Heath Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Osceola Mills with the Rev. Father William Ellis officiating.  Burial will be at the Umbria Cemetery in Osceola Mills.

Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. – 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Cynthia D. Emigh, 60, of Coalport and formerly of Clearfield, died Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at the Ridgeview Elder Care & Rehabilitation Center in Curwensville.

Born April 27, 1957 in Clearfield, she was the daughter of the late Arnold and Donna (Maines) Wisor. She was of the Christian faith and a homemaker.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Ronald Wisor.

She is survived by three daughters, Terra Lynn Barger and her husband, Robert and Kassie Spingola, both of Clearfield, and Renee Haggerty and her husband, Michael of Carlisle; three sons, Greg Emigh and Michael Emigh, both of Carlisle, and Eric Emigh of Sandy Ridge; two sisters, Theresa Hess and her husband, Greg of Clearfield and Lisa Maney and her husband, James Maney III of Houtzdale; and three grandchildren, Savannah and Sierra Shannon and Mackayla Barger.

Ardella P. Lobb, 76, of Green Lane, Pa., and formerly of Philipsburg, Jamestown, NY and Dillsburg, died Thursday, June 1, 2017, at St. Luke’s Hospital-Quakertown campus, following a brief illness.

Born Aug. 10, 1940 in Philipsburg, she was a daughter of the late Edmund L. and Eva R. (Breth) Waring.

She attended Philipsburg High School and worked in various manufacturing industries. She was gregarious. She loved gardening and shopping, and she loved life. She will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by four children, Mark A. Lobb and his wife, Linda of Hewitt, Texas, Gregory L. Lobb of Masontown, W.Va., Susan K. Prosser and her husband, Scott of Ocala, Fla., and Timothy J. Lobb and his wife, Elizabeth of Jamestown, NY.

She is survived by four brothers, Luther P. Waring and his wife, Leah of Lewistown, DeWayne B. Waring and his wife, Emily of Allport, James C. Waring and his wife, Joan of Enola and Philipsburg and Roy F. Waring of Green Lane; a sister, Alice LeBlanc of Orange, Calif.; and a sister-in-law, Janet Waring of Dover.

She is also survived by six grandchildren, Holly Lobb, Stephen Prosser, Benjamin Prosser, Lyndsey Lobb, Amber Lobb and Sarah Prosser; two great-grandchildren, Gavin and Cooper Lobb; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Ronald A. Waring and Edmund C. Waring; a sister, Rita Overmoyer; and a sister-in-law, Barbara Waring.  

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the David K. Dahlgren Funeral Home, Philipsburg. Burial will be in Mock’s Hill Cemetery, West Decatur.

Steven C. “Turk” Terry, 79, of Clearfield died Friday, June 2, 2017 at UPMC Altoona Regional Hospital.

Born Sept. 16, 1937 in Grassflat, he was the son of Steve and Anna (Wansock) Terry. 

He was a 1955 graduate of the Cooper Township High School. He was employed by both Dotts Motors and Auto Mart, both of Clearfield, for 35-plus years as a car salesman. He then retired from Auto Mart.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also loved Pittsburgh sports and enjoyed going to bingo. 

He was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Clearfield and a former member of the Grassflat L.O.O.M.

On Jan. 26, 1963 in Houtzdale, he wed the former Mary Lou Sinclair, who survives, after 54 years of marriage. Also surviving are a daughter, Brenda L. Terry of Clearfield and a son, Steven C. Terry II and his wife, Courtney of Clearfield. 

In addition, he is survived by a grandson, Cole Terry of Clearfield; a brother, Richard “Dick” Terry and his wife, Peggy of Curwensville; and a sister, Linda Shetler and her husband, Michael of Grassflat. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Shirley Schaeffer; and a brother, William “Bill” Terry.

Funeral services for Mr. Terry will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the St. John’s Lutheran Church, 217 E. Pine St., Clearfield, with Pastor Robert Way officiating. Burial will be in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.

Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home Inc., 16 N. Front St., Clearfield, and from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

The family suggests contributions be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church, 217 E. Pine St., Clearfield, PA 16830.

Nancy R. Genesi, 72, of Smithmill died Sunday, June 4, 2017 in UPMC Altoona.

Born March 3, 1945 in Fallentimber, she was the daughter of the late Timothy and Janet (Mackey) Shumosky.

She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Ramey, where she served as a CCD teacher and was part of the Altar Rosary Society. 

She was also a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 6321.  She worked as a teller at CNB Bank.

She married James D. Genesi on March 19, 1966 in Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Ramey. He preceded her in death in 2010.

She is survived by a daughter, Tammy D. Fox and her husband, Barry of Smithmill, several cousins and many loving friends.

Friends will be received from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Kruise-Spewock Funeral & Cremation Services Inc., Ramey. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Ramey, with Fr. Zab Amar as celebrant.  Burial will follow in Holy Trinity Cemetery.

Kenneth V. Smeal, 46, of Woodland died Sunday, June 4, 2017.

He was born June 8, 1970 in Clearfield, a son of Donna (Green) Smeal of Woodland and the late Kenneth Smeal.

He had been employed as a tractor-trailer driver for various companies.  He enjoyed racing, especially NASCAR. He also used to like to hunt.

He was affiliated with the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church, Woodland.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by two sisters, Tammy English and her husband, Ash and Linda Owens and her husband, Mike, all of Clearfield; an aunt, Dorothy Loddo and her friend, Harry Beggs of Curwensville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father.

A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Friday at the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church, Woodland, with Pastor Sean Patrick Smith officiating.

Friends will be received from 4 p.m. – 5 p.m. Friday at the church.

Kathryn Verona, 99, of Inman, Kan., and formerly of Falls Creek, died Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Inman, Kan.

Born Dec. 24, 1917 in DuBois, she was the daughter of the late Paul Sycalik and Mary (Hrin) Sycalik Rosio.

She retired from Brockway Glass after 28 years of service in June of 1981.

She was a member of the St. Bernard Roman Catholic Church.

She is survived by three children, Paul Sycalik and his wife, Voundialee of Reynoldsville, Carol Lemen and her husband, Steve of Hutchinson, Kan., and Rosemary Schultz and her husband, Melvin of Spanaway, Wash.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister; three half-brothers; and three step-brothers and three step-sisters.  She was also preceded in death by one great-grandchild.

Friends will be received from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. Friday at the Baronick Funeral Home and Crematorium Inc.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Baronick Funeral Home and Crematorium Inc. with Fr. Edward Walk officiating.

Burial will be in Lakelawn Memorial Park in Reynoldsville.

Patricia “Patty” Rebar, 57, of Ramey died Monday, June 5, 2017 at her home surrounded by her loving family, where she was cared for and loved by them unconditionally.

Born Aug. 26, 1959 in Philipsburg, she was the daughter of the late John “Jack” and Mary (Rapsey) Williams.

She was a 1977 graduate of Moshannon Valley High School.  She began her love of education when she attended Westmoreland Hospital, where she became a certified laboratory assistant in 1978. 

In 1997, she earned her Associate of Applied Science from St. Francis University.  In 2010, she graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science from St. Francis University.  

Along with an aspiration for education, she was a devote employee at UPMC-Altoona for her 37 years.  She retired from UPMC-Altoona as an assistant laboratory supervisor of microbiology in 2015.

On April 21, 1979, she married her high school sweetheart and love of her life.  

She is survived by her beloved husband, Daniel Rebar; three loving children, Sarah Fye and her husband, Justin, Nicholas Rebar and his wife, Mallori and Molly Mills and her husband, Andrew, all of Ramey; three siblings, Mary Claire Johnston of Punxsutawney, Beth Ann Bach of Whiting, Ind., and Christopher Williams of Avondale, Pa.; and a mother-in-law, June Rebar.

“MumMum” leaves behind five grandchildren, Natalie Mills, Lydia Mills, Quinn Rebar, Elyse Mills and Hudson Rebar, who were loved by her unequivocally.

Friends will be received from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. – 10:15 a.m. Thursday at the Kruise-Spewock Funeral & Cremation Services Inc., Ramey.  Parastas will be sung at 7:45 p.m. Wednesday.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, Ramey, with the Rev. Anthony Balistreri officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Ukrainian Cemetery, Ramey.
