Sylvia E. (Eamigh) Bunzer, 92, of Morrisdale went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, June 5, 2017 at Mount Nittany Medical Center.

Mrs. Bunzer was born Dec. 7, 1924 at Irvona, the daughter of John L. Eamigh Sr., and Elizabeth (Drew) Eamigh.

She was a 1942 graduate of the Clearfield Area High School.

She retired as administrative assistant from the Clearfield County Board of Assistance in 1989.

She served six years as Graham Township Supervisor, during which time a new office building was erected. She also secured county, state and federal grant monies to fund a waterline extension.

Mrs. Bunzer was a born again Christian and a member of the Ashland Wesleyan Church, Osceola Mills.

She married Joseph Bunzer on Feb. 4, 1943; they were inseparable for 54 years until his death Aug. 15, 1997.

They were known as “The Gospel Strings,” and with their guitars, they did a monthly program of gospel music at the Mountain Laurel Nursing & Rehabilitation Center and at various area churches.

Mrs. Bunzer was also talented in sewing, carpentry and writing poetry. She was a VIP blood donor.

She is survived by two daughters, Linda M. Decker of Morrisdale and Kathleen S. Eberhart and her husband, Timothy of Everett; four grandchildren, Jill, Joe, Scott and Amy; five great-grandchildren; a brother, William H. Eamigh and his wife, Suzanne; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Bunzer was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; an infant daughter, Rosemary, in 1944; two sons, Joe in 1969 and Jerry in 1974; a brother, John L. Eamigh Jr.; and a sister, Elizabeth “Betty” Baronak.

Because all of her immediate family also trusted in Jesus as their personal Savior, the family circle will be unbroken in Heaven.

The Home Going Service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Bennett & Houser Funeral Home Inc., of Clearfield with Pastors Joe and Arlene Rohrbacker officiating. Burial will be at Bradford Cemetery.

Friends will be received from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. Thursday and from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Andrew John “Andy” Belko, 88, of Philipsburg died Wednesday, June 7, 2017, at Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College.

Born Oct. 25, 1928, he was a son of John and Pauline (Lucas) Belko, both of whom preceded him in death.

He was a Christian and raised in the Roman Catholic faith. He was a 1946 graduate of the former Philipsburg High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

He was first employed as a machinist and then as a tool and die maker with several area businesses throughout his working career, including Lee Industries of Philipsburg, HRB Singer, formerly of State College, and DuPont/Berg Electronics, formerly of Clearfield, until his retirement Dec. 31, 1991.

He was a member of the B.P.O. Elks No. 1173 and the AMVETS No. 159, both of Philipsburg.

He had a number of hobbies, including hunting, fishing, bowling and small engine repair. He was also a very adept roller skater in his younger years.

He was married July 28, 1952, in Winchester, Va., to the former Lois E. “Loie” (Wood). She preceded him in death Sept. 20, 2016.

He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Verna Walker, Pauline Belko and Mary Shedlock; an infant brother, George Belko; and three brothers, John, George and Edward Belko.

He is survived by one daughter, Amy Jo Belko of Philipsburg; four grandchildren, Miles Lynn Fenton of (Treasure Lake) DuBois and Meili Lynn-Qing Belko, Meizhen Lynn-Miao Belko and Minhao Lynn Yan Belko, all of Philipsburg; two sisters, Betty Sicks and her husband, William of Philipsburg and Marge Lewis and her husband, Ken of Maryville, Tenn.; three brothers, Robert Belko and William Belko and his wife, Melissa, both of Philipsburg, and David Belko and his wife, Stephanie of Wexford; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home, 719 E. Spruce St., Philipsburg, with Pastor Matthew Mitchell officiating.

Friends will be received from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. Saturday until the time of the service at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Philipsburg Cemetery.

Maureen J. Woods, 65, of DuBois died Thursday, June 8, 2017 at Ridgeview Elder Care in Curwensville.

Born April 13, 1952 in Grosmont Yorkshire, England, she was the daughter of the late Herbert Liddle and Irene (Powderhill) Liddle.  Her mother survives and lives in Port Smith, Ohio.

She worked as a licensed practical nurse for Nelson’s Golden Years in DuBois. She was a member of the Church of Our Savior Episcopal Church.

She is survived by three children,  Crystal Woods, Daniel Woods and Shane Woods and his wife, Anna, all of DuBois; two brothers, Morris Liddle and Dave Liddle, both of Port Smith, Ohio; and two grandchildren, Connor and Kaleb Woods.  She is also survived by her former husband, Joe Woods of Reynoldsville.

Friends will be received from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. Saturday at the Baronick Funeral Home and Crematorium Inc.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Baronick Funeral Home and Crematorium Inc. with Pastor Melinda Hall officiating. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery.

Shirley E. Zahuranec, 86, of (Hudson) RD Philipsburg, died Thursday, June 8, 2017 at Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College.

Born June 3, 1931, in (Stirling) RD Houtzdale, she was a daughter of William and Gertrude (Delansky) Vogle, both of whom preceded her in death.

She was a 1949 graduate of the former Houtzdale-Woodward Joint High School. She was a member of the New Hope Christian Fellowship Church, Houtzdale.

She was married July 4, 1953, by the late Fr. Michael Tutokie, at the former Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church, Winburne, to Joseph J. Zahuranec. He preceded her in death Sept. 2, 2011.

She was also preceded in death by a sister, Jean Baker; an infant sister, Mae Vogle; and one brother–in-law, Michael Swartz.

She is survived by one sister, Ida Mae Swartz of (Hudson) RD Philipsburg; a nephew, William M. Vogle and his wife, Carol; a great-nephew, Jeffrey Vogle and his wife, Glenda; and a great-niece, Bonnie Reimer and her husband, Kevin.

There will be no public visitation. A private funeral service will be held at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home, 719 E. Spruce St., Philipsburg, with Pastor Dennis Frantz officiating. Burial will be in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Brisbin.

Laurie A. Ferut, 61, of DuBois died Friday, June 9, 2017 at Penn Highlands DuBois.

Born July 19, 1955, she was the daughter of the later Robert and Elsie (Krach) Salada.

On Dec. 26, 2016, she married Dennis D. Ferut.  He survives.

She retired as a paraprofessional from the DuBois Area School District after 28 years of service.  She had worked her last 16 years in emotional support at the DuBois Middle School, where she was the site coordinator in the Project Success Program.

She was a member of the St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church. She enjoyed working during the holiday season at Maurice’s. 

She loved her cats, Sunny and Angel.  She also enjoyed shopping, floating in her pool and spoiling her grandkids.

She is survived by two children, Cheri McConnell and her husband, Joseph of DuBois and Kelly Whiting and her husband, Shawn of Saxonburg and four step-children, Brandon Ferut and his wife, Lacey, Samantha Ferut and her companion, Justin Berryman, Brodie Ferut and his companion, Alix Reis and Seth Ferut and his companion, Jenna Winebark, all of DuBois.

She is also survived by a brother, Dale Salada and his wife, Susan of Perryolopis, Pa., and eight grandchildren, Robert, Mary and Ryan McConnell, Gemma and Ella Whiting, Aries Berryman and Reagan and Russell Ferut.

There will be no public visitation. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church with Msgr. Richard Siefer as celebrant.

Thomas Lee James Sr. went to be with the Lord, Friday, June 9, 2017 at his residence in Woodland.

Born Oct. 30, 1931 in Philipsburg, he was the son of the late Bert and Edith Graffius James.

He wed Celeste Pezzulla James, who survives at home in Woodland.

Along with his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Tammy Hatton and her husband, Terry of Curwensville and Tracey L. James of Woodland and his son, Thad James and his companion, Tammy of Uniontown.

Also surviving are his grandchildren, Jared, Desarae, Sabrina, Sherri, Thomas and Harley and great-grandchildren, Henry, Azion, Riley and Justin.

Mr. James was the last of his generation.  Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons, Thomas L. James Jr. and Todd “Paco” James, a great-grandson, Holden James and a sister Eleanor Kephart.

Mr. James was a 1952 graduate of the Morris Township High School. He had worked for the former Piper Aircraft, Quehanna, until his retirement.

He then worked for Fullington, Clearfield, as a parts manager.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Chapel of the Strange & Weaver Funeral Service, Morrisdale, with the Rev. Brenda Libreatori officiating.  Burial will be in the Shiloh Cemetery, Woodland.

Family and friends will be received from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. Tuesday at Strange & Weaver Funeral Service, Morrisdale.

May L. Fritz, 83, of DuBois died Saturday, June 10, 2017 at Christ the King Manor after a short illness.

Born May 9, 1934 in Texarkana, Ark., she was the daughter of the late David and Jane (Little) McGaha. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John “Jack” Fritz.

She grew up in Texarkana, Ark., and graduated from Texarkana Area High School in 1952.

She married Jack Fritz on April 2 1955 after meeting him during his tour in the Army in Texarkana, Ark. They then moved to DuBois, where she lived the remainder of her life.

After raising her family, she began her working career with the City of DuBois as a police dispatcher for many years until her retirement.  She was also the co-owner of the Jo May Pet Store in DuBois for many years.

She loved being with her friends, sitting on the porch and enjoying the day. She didn’t let life pass her by, and she lived it to the fullest extent possible.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved her family, friends and pets.

She is survived by two sons, John Fritz and his wife, Lori and Jeffrey Fritz and his wife, Jill, both of DuBois; five grandchildren, John “JD,” Cory, Abby, Adam and Tyler Fritz; and two great-grandchildren, Jaxon and Jordan Fritz. She will be missed by her life-long friend of 75 years, Sue Jo Works of Texarkana, Ark.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Jane Henning.

Friends will be received from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium Inc.

A service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor John Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Morningside Cemetery.

Donald R. Kennedy, 72, of Sandy Ridge died Friday, June 9, 2017 at the UPMC Altoona Hospital in Altoona.

Born April 18, 1945 in Philipsburg, he was the son of the late Earl and Anna (Marcella) Kennedy.

Mr. Kennedy was of the Protestant faith. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

He graduated from the Philipsburg-Osceola High School. He was a member of the Mountain Top Fire Company in Sandy Ridge.

He was a retired truck driver for the former Merryman Trucking. He had also been a truck driver for the JJ Powell Oil Co., in Philipsburg.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Lewis Earl Kennedy.

He is survived by one sister, Dorothy Smith of Sandy Ridge; one brother, Richard Kennedy of Frankston, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

At the request of Mr. Kennedy, there will be no viewing or funeral services.  Place of burial will be at the Umbria Cemetery in Osceola Mills.

Perry Q. Seyler, 76, of Falls Creek died Monday, June 12, 2017 at Highland View Healthcare in Brockway.

Born Feb. 9, 1941 in Luthersburg, he was the son of the late Reginald and Gladys (Aurand) Seyler.

He retired as a construction foreman from Scrufari Construction in Niagara Falls, NY.

He loved his garden, doing yard work and tinkering around the house.

He is survived by three children, Maryann Nasca and her husband, Kevin and William Seyler, both of Niagara Falls, NY, and Kathy Stevens of Lewiston, NY and two grandchildren, Carol Thurnherr and Julie Nasca. 

He is also survived by five siblings, Robert Seyler and his wife, Sue; Anna Price; Patricia Snyder and her husband, Earl; Cora Young and her husband, Carl and Mary Webb. 

He was preceded in death by two brothers, William Seyler and Don Seyler.

There will be no public visitation. A memorial service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.

Jeanne Kay Marsh, 60, of Clearfield died Saturday, June 10, 2017 surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Marsh was born Jan. 18, 1957, the daughter of Daniel and Pearl (Liddle) Peoples.

She was a 1974 graduate of Clearfield Area High School. She was a 1978 graduate of Bloomsburg University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary and early childhood education.

She received an academic achievement award for academic excellence.

She started her career as a substitute teacher at West Branch Elementary School. She later worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture within the Federal Government for more than 35 years, recently retiring Jan. 3, 2016.

She was a program technician assisting local farmers with available federal programs. She took the time to personally know every farmer she worked with.

Mrs. Marsh was a life-long member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Clearfield where she was a Sunday school teacher.

She was a devoted wife and mother who loved spending quality time with her family. She made sure to take time every year to plan a big family vacation.

She also enjoyed gardening, caring for the family orchard and beautifying flower beds. She made time to take a swim in the backyard pool and to cook family dinner every night.

She was an avid runner who ran multiple times a week on her treadmill or the local trail. She participated in races and won medals throughout the years.

She loved all animals, especially the family cats and dogs she cared for over the years.

She is survived by her husband, Stanley A. Marsh, to whom she was married Oct. 27, 1979 at Trinity United Methodist Church; her two daughters, Jennifer (Marsh) Miller and her husband, Richard of Bellefonte and Jaclyn (Marsh) Rawlings and her husband, Alan of Forty Fort; and a brother, James Shugerts of Clearfield.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Bennett & Houser Funeral Home Inc. of Clearfield with Dr. C. Frederick Ralston officiating.

Friends will be received from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Bernice J. “Chub” Bauman, 82, of O’Shanter died Sunday, June 11, 2017 at UPMC Altoona Hospital.

Mrs. Bauman was born March 18, 1935 in Clearfield, the daughter of Robert and Margaret (Root) Borst. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Bauman was a member of the O’Shanter United Methodist Church and the Clearfield Eagles. She enjoyed the outdoors, liked to camp and loved animals.

She is survived by three children, December L. McGovern and her husband, Francis of O’Shanter, Shane S. Bauman and his wife, Kathy M. of Olanta and Autumn R. Gladfelter and her husband, James H. of Glen Richey.

She is survived by eight grandchildren, Krystal Anderson, Kyle McGovern, Shane Bauman Jr., Shawna James, Amber Bauman, Shadoe Bauman, Shannon Gladfelter and Summer Hepher; 14 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Nancy Graham and her husband, Lawrence of Woodland, Lona Michaels of Glen Richey and Darlene McMonigal and her husband, Donald of Mineral Springs; a brother, Robert Borst Jr., of Indiana; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald L. Bauman, who died May 14, 2007 and to whom she was married Jan. 30, 1953; a brother, Cecil Borst; and a sister, Hazel Goodrow.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Bennett & Houser Funeral Home Inc. of Clearfield with the Rev. John F. White officiating. Burial will be in Thompson Cemetery.

Friends will be received from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. Thursday and from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Frederick Kenneth “Fred” Kester, 76, a guest at Windy Hill Village, and formerly of Curry Run, Mahaffey, died Sunday, June 11, 2017 at Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College.

Born July 15, 1940 in Clearfield, he was the son of Lex Frederick and Helen Emma (Richards) Kester. 

Mr. Kester was a self-employed auto tire salesman.  He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War era and a 1959 graduate of Curwensville Area High School.

Surviving are a daughter, Kathi Reynolds and her husband, Mark and a granddaughter, Lindsey, all of Julian, and a brother, Donald Kester and his wife, Helen of Virginia.

He was preceded in death by his parents and twin brothers, Barry and Gary Kester.

There will be no public visitation and funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Crown Crest Memorial Park in Hyde.

Born Nov. 17, 1955 in DuBois, she was the daughter of the late Donald and Elizabeth (Furdak) Howey.

She was married to Blair Collins.  He preceded her in death Dec. 16, 2014. 

She previously worked for Owens-Illinois in Brockway.

She is survived by her daughter, Crystal (Miller) Spiegel and her husband, Dr. Ian Spiegel of Doylestown; a sister, Mary Jo Sherwood and her husband, Kermit, of Smethport; and two grandchildren, Evan and Lucille Spiegel.

Paul A. Kolesar Sr., 81, of Lanse and formerly of Forest, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 11, 2017, at his son’s residence in Lanse.

Born Oct. 20, 1935 in Munson, he was the son of the late Andrew and Priscilla Herbert Kolesar.

On Aug. 13, 1962 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Forest, he married Esther A. Goss Kolesar, who preceded him in death Oct. 3, 2005.

He is survived by his children, Dennis Kolesar of Hawk Run, Susan Dickinson and her husband, Todd of Howell, Mich., and Paul A. Kolesar Jr. and his wife, Kristine J., of Lanse and his grandchildren, Matthew, Tyler and Mark Dickinson of Howell, Mich., Melinda, Taylor, Douglas and Kyle Kolesar of Lanse and Landon Kolesar of Hawk Run.

Also surviving are his sisters, Anna Frances Hummel and her husband, Leon of Fuquay-Varina, NC, Mary Smeal and her husband, Patrick of Camp Hill and Barbara Czar of West Decatur and numerous nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert, Donald and James Kolesar,  a nephew, Robert “Red” Kolesar and a niece, Patricia Kolesar.

Mr. Kolesar was a member of the St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Forest, where he served on numerous committees.

He was a 1956 graduate of the former Morris Township High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from 1958-1960.

Earlier in life, he worked for the former R.S. Carlin Coal Co., Snow Shoe, and the former Piper Aircraft, Quehanna.

He then was employed by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation for 25 years until his retirement after which he worked at the Market Place in Kylertown.

He was a member of Cooper Township Sportsmen’s Club, Winburne. His joys in life were fishing, hunting, the Centre County Grange Fair but mostly his grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Forest, with the Rev. Kenneth Zitsch officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Military honors will be accorded at the graveside by the Moshannon Valley Independent Honor Guard.

James A. “Allan” Weis Sr., 76, of Falls Creek died Monday, June 12, 2017 at his home.

Born March 15, 1941 in Old Fort, NC, he was the son of the late Raymond R. and Katherine “Katie” (Connor) Weis.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army who had served during the Vietnam War.

On Sept. 16, 1967, he married Joyce (Stankavich) Weis.  She survives.

He was a spec tester at Brockway Glass Manufacturing in Brockway for many years.

He was a member of the St. Bernard Roman Catholic Church in Falls Creek and St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in DuBois.

He loved fishing and the outdoors.  His favorite hobby; however, was photography.  He won many awards for his work.

He is survived by a son, James A. “Jamie” Weis Jr. of Brockway; three brothers, Richard “Dick” Weis and his wife, Arlene and Tom Weis and his wife, Linda, both of DuBois, and Jerry Weis of Falls Creek; and one sister, Cathy Snyder of Reynoldsville.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Weis.

Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Baronick Funeral Home and Crematorium Inc.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Baronick Funeral Home and Crematorium Inc. with Fr. Matias Quimno officiating. Burial will be in Beechwoods Cemetery.

John E. Litzinger Jr., 70, of Carnwath died Monday June 12, 2017 at his residence after a lengthy illness.

Born March 15, 1947 in Clearfield, he was the son of John and Fay Lillian (Hunt) Litzinger. 

Mr. Litzinger was a self-employed welder who had worked in the natural gas fields and at various coal companies in the area, including Hepburnia Coal Co.

He was a U.S. Marine Corp veteran of the Vietnam War and had received a Purple Heart.  He was Roman Catholic by faith.

He was a former member of the Curwensville VFW Post 842 and the Curwensville L.O.O.M., Family Center No. 268. He was a great supporter of all veteran organizations.

On Feb. 3, 1973, he wed the former Sharon Irene Undercofler, who preceded him in death July 23, 2004. 

He was also preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Heather Litzinger; a granddaughter, Skylar Irene Litzinger; a sister, Carol Litzinger; and two brothers, Carl and Joseph Litzinger.

Surviving are a son, Jason Litzinger and his wife, Crystal of New Millport; a daughter, Nicole Hummel of Wellsboro; a step-son, Shawn Undercofler and his wife, Melissa of Clearfield; and a daughter-in-law, Jennie Engle of Grampian.

Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, Nicholas, Alex, Isaac, Riley, Lilly “Bunny” Litzinger, Zachery, Tyler and Kevin Undercofler, and Shaundra and Marquisha LaPointe; numerous great-grandchildren; a sister, Jean Ogden and her husband, Richard of Clearfield; a nephew, Joseph Litzinger and his wife, Sherry of Curwensville; and a cousin, Earl “Butch” Hunt of Curwensville.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the chapel of Fruit Hill Cemetery, New Millport, with the Rev. Father Matias Madera Quimno officiating. Burial will follow in the cemetery.

Richard H. “Dick” DeSalve, 73, of DuBois died Monday, June 12, 2017 at Penn Highlands DuBois.

Born Nov. 8, 1943, he was the son of the late Herbert and O. Ruth (Lowstetter) DeSalve.

On Dec. 1, 1962, he married Sandra L. (Hauck) DeSalve.  She survives. They were married 54 years.

He retired from Ross Mould in Brockway as a mold engineer after 27 years of service.  Prior to that, he worked 13 years as an engineer for the Pennsylvania Highway Department. 

He, along with his brother, Barry DeSalve Sr., was the owner/operator of Tri County Performance in DuBois for the past 49 years.

He attended Lakeside United Methodist Church.  He was a member of Garfield Lodge No. 559 Free and Accepted Masons, the National Rifle Association, the Wild Turkey Federation and the North American Hunter.  He enjoyed hunting and family gatherings at camp. 

He also enjoyed golfing, scrapbooking, racing and spoiling his dog, Sadie.  He was the owner and crew chief of Herbie’s Hugger N.H.R.A., a national record-holding race team.  Above all, his greatest love was his family.

He is survived by a son, Rick DeSalve and his wife, Sue and a daughter, Brenda Gahr and her husband, Sean; a brother, Barry DeSalve Sr. and his wife, Alice; a sister, Bonnie Kearney and her husband, Denny; and three grandchildren, Eric DeSalve, Lindsay and Austin Gahr, all of DuBois.

Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Thursday at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium Inc.

Florence M. Nickey, 102, of the Mountain Laurel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Clearfield and formerly of Philipsburg, died Monday, June 12, 2017 at the Mountain Laurel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Clearfield.

Born Oct. 12, 1914 in Dunlo, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Peter and Kathryn (Philips) Mathews. 

She married John W. Nickey on Aug. 14, 1943 in York. He preceded her in death Oct. 1, 1982.

Mrs. Nickey was of the Christian faith.

She was a retired bookkeeper for the former Atlas Manufacturing Co., in York. She was a 1932 graduate of the former Philipsburg High School.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Isabel Rexroth and one brother, Edward P. Mathews.

Mrs. Mickey is survived by five nieces and nephews, Kathy Jacobs, Kim Fyock, Tina Dixon, Bruce Mathews and Tracy Remp.

A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be at the Greenmount Cemetery of York.

Ann Christine Bannon, 87, a life-long resident of Osceola Mills and more recently of (North) Philipsburg, died Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at Wynwood House at Greenhills, State College.

Born Aug. 4, 1929 in Philipsburg, she was a daughter of August “Gust” and Anna (Yasovsky) Tekely, both of whom preceded her in death.

She was a graduate of the former Philipsburg High School.

She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Osceola Mills, for most of her life. While a member, she served in the church choir and the Altar-Rosary Society.

Later in life, she and her husband, Don were members of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Philipsburg.

She was a homemaker. She also operated an alterations/seamstress business out of her home for many years.

She was a founder and instrumental leader of the Osceola Mills Public Library Story Hour Program for more than 20 years.

She enjoyed a number of hobbies, which included: sewing, coordinating many family reunions and a devotion to caring for her family.

She was married Feb. 7, 1948 in Philipsburg to Donald J. Bannon. He survives at Wynwood House at Greenhills, State College.

She is also survived by three daughters, Cynthia Murphy and her husband, Alan of Philipsburg, Teri Hudish and her husband, Daniel of Nazareth and Michelle Reno and her husband, Michael of Somerville, NJ and two sons, Gary Bannon and his wife, Sue (Townsend) of Harrisburg and Richard Bannon and his wife, Genya (Guillard) of Ramey.

She is also survived by one sister, Mary Ann (Tekely) Pollock of North Tonawanda, NY; 15 grandchildren, Thomas Bannon, James Bannon, Julianne Brett and her husband, Darin, Robert Bannon and his wife, Paula, Benjamin Bannon and his wife, Lorri, Bethany Bannon, Jon Paul Bannon, Alissa (Murphy) Smethers and her husband, Joshua, Brittany Murphy, Lauren Murphy, Kevin Hudish, Jill Hudish, Molly Hudish, Seth Reno and Aubrey Reno; six great-grandchildren, Emerson and Arlowe Brett, Grace, Claire and Jack Bannon, and Lillian Becker; and a number of nieces and nephews.    

A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Philipsburg, with the Rev. Joseph Staszewski as celebrant.

Friends will be received from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home, 719 E. Spruce St., Philipsburg. Burial will be at the Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery, RD Philipsburg.
